Miriam David (b. Sydney Australia) is a multidiscipline artist currently living and working in NYC. Her practice deals with the ways in which symbols manifest themselves within the larger context of a visual piece~ how the symbols agency is poignantly highlighted when placed within and around contingent visual signifiers, narratives and sites which act as recognisable contextualising boundaries. Her compositions reframe the corporeality of both living and non-living entities, proposing that we reconsider the object or space as having agency that goes beyond our usual reading. Through ink, paper, simplistic mark-making, duplication and colour, her works invite viewers to ascribe new narratives based on personal memory and imagination.
